Happy Independence Day, everyone! We celebrated the Fourth of July on the open road, which felt pretty patriotic in its own way.

We packed up camp from the 1880 Town KOA this morning and embarked on a serious driving day, covering over 550 miles!

Our first significant stop was the majestic Dignity: Of Earth & Sky statue near Chamberlain, South Dakota. This incredible 50-foot tall stainless steel statue of an Indigenous woman holding a star quilt is truly breathtaking and a powerful tribute to the Lakota and Dakota people. It's an absolutely stunning piece of art against the backdrop of the Missouri River, and definitely worth pulling over for.

Next, we made a classic South Dakota stop at the one and only Corn Palace in Mitchell! This unique building is decorated annually with thousands of ears of corn and other grains, creating incredible murals. It's such a quirky and charming sight – truly the "World's Only Corn Palace" and a testament to agricultural artistry!

Today was also exciting because we officially added Nebraska and Iowa to our list of states visited! Cruising through new landscapes and seeing the signs for new state lines is always a thrill.

We pulled into the Des Moines East KOA this evening, tired but happy after a long day of driving and sightseeing. We're getting closer to home now, but there's still one more good stretch to go.

Tomorrow promises to be another long drive as we continue our journey back home. It's hard to believe this incredible adventure is winding down, but we'll savor every last mile!
